Goals, Reminders, and GREAT COACHES

We have great coaches and I thought I would share an interesting fact about each coach:
  • Coach Cory swam at the Olympic Trials 
  • Coach Sabrina taught elementary school kids in Belize this last school year
  • Coach Mackenzie starting summer swim team when she was 4 years old

Berrywood Swim Team Goals:
  1. Have Fun!
  2. Improvement for all swimmers- Coaches will provide lots of feedback
  3. Develop community- We are all volunteers working together to make the season enjoyable for everyone
  4. Hopefully win some swim meets

Reminders:
  1. Sign out for all swim meets that you won't be able to attend. Nemo swimmers don't need to. The meet sign-out sheet will be at the pool and eventually online. 
  2. Check the website and blog page on regularly basis- www.berrywoodswimteam.weebly.com
  3. Don't talk to coaches during practice- they are coaching and lifeguarding- if you have a concern email them or talk to them before/after practice
  4. If you have a concern that involves volunteering, schedules, events, etc. you can talk to me.  But please talk with coaches about stroke work, meet entries, and practices.
  5. We will have practice in the rain.  If practice is cancelled you will receive an email. 
  6. Help out when you can.  Thank you to everyone who signed up to help. 
  7. Junior coach sign-ups at practice on Tuesday

I will be at the pool for practice on Tuesday and Wednesday if you have any questions. On Tuesday, please bring your suit that you have grown out of to pass on to a younger swimmer.  There will be spirit wear and caps on sale on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Metro Swim Shop will be at the pool on Wednesday with team suits, googles, etc. Practice on Friday, June 2 will be one hour earlier so every practice group is bumped up by one hour.  BSTC is hosting a pizza party for the beginning of summer on Friday evening.

The cOUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN...

Hi Marlins,
Hope you are well!  The season is about to start and hopefully your swimmer is excited!  I wanted to give a few friendly reminders about the next few weeks.

  • May 21st- 6:15pm Meet/Greet with Coach Mackenzie and Coach Cory followed by new family meeting at 6:30pm- Come learn about the swim team season and get your questions answered.  Please bring your swimmers.  Spirit Wear will be on sale along with caps. 
  • May 30th- First Day of Practice 4:30-7pm (schedule attached). Please bring your too small team suits to pass on.
  • May 31st- Practice and Metro will be on deck with team suits and googles (Team suit is optional)
  • June 1 and 2- Practice
  • June 5 to 8- Practice
  • June 9- Time Trial from4:30-7pm followed by sip n dip and bonfire (Nemos should come to the sip n dip- it is a lot of fun)
  • June 12th- Morning Practice and Nemos Begin


Junior coach information and sign-ups will be available at the first few days of practice.  The website has more information about the season and you can download the calendarfrom the website.  I am looking forward to a fun season.
