Michelle Wilson will be always be my hero for many reasons (she managed the team for 8 years) and knows everything about swim team- I learned so much for her. I know Ray Gretz will do an amazing job. The team has two great coaches along with teen assistant coaches and lots of junior coaches. Plus, so many amazing parents that pitch in and help out in so many ways. Megan Rausch is off to a great start as volunteer coordinator. We look forward to coming back at the end of July to help at the Berrywood hosted Gold Medal Meet and swim team banquet. The kids swam great at the time trials and hopefully you had a fun time! The swimmers are working really hard and it is great to see them improving. We have normal afternoon practice Monday thru Thursday. Friday there is no practice but BSTC is hosting a pizza party at the pool from 5:30-9pm. Please RSVP if you plan to attend. If you signed up to be a stroke and turn official or referee and you would like a review session- there will be a league training on Tuesday at 7pm at Oakleigh Forest Pool. Saturday is our first home meet. Please mark your swimmer’s availability on TeamSnap by Tuesday evening. Cory will only enter swimmers who have indicated that they are available to swim. Warm-up is at 8am and the meet starts at 9am. We will set-up on Friday evening so if you signed up to help with that please plan to meet at the pool around 8pm on Friday evening. A few reminders for the meet: Q: What should I bring to a swim meet? A: Cash for concessions, towels, sunscreen, water, chairs, cards or some sort of entertainment, extra clothes, extra googles (if you have some), extra suit, and lots of patience. Swim meets can be long but it is a great time to get to know your fellow teammates and other families on the team. Meets are normally three hours. You can leave after your last event but double check with a coach before you leave just in case you are swimming a relay. Q: I signed up to volunteer at a meet and now I can't do it? A: Please try to find a replacement or switch with someone. Notify the team manager and/or volunteer coordinator so that they can help you find someone. Everyone is a volunteer and we all need to work together to run meets and other events. Q: How can parents help ensure that your swimmer does not miss their event? A: Please mark your child’s arm with the events that they will be swimming. Please listen to the announcer and know when you need to get your swimmer over to the clerk of course. The clerks are very busy and they don’t have time to look for missing swimmers. The meet events are IM, Breaststroke, Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly, and Relays. You can buy a meet program to follow along with the meet. They are $1 or $2 and sold at the beginning of the meet. Q: What should my swimmer be doing at a swim meet? A: They should be cheering for their teammates. Talking with their coaches after they are done swimming their event. Enjoying spending time with their friends. If they want to help there is always something to do, please have them ask the team manager for a job. Stay Calm and Swim On! Thanks, Annie Krause Ray Gretz Hi Marlins,
Week Two Reminders Practice will be Monday thru Thursday. On Friday we will have a Time Trial practice meet. This is opportunity for the swimmers to have a practice meet before our first real meet of the season. It is always a lot of fun. The team provides hot dogs, watermelon, chips, lemonade, and s’mores. We ask that families bring a dish to share with everyone. If you would like your swimmer to swim in the time trial please mark down that there are available on TeamSnap. If you have questions about TeamSnap please ask. Nemos are invited to join in the fun at the time trial. Even though the Nemos kids don't swim in it they can come cheer and eat.
