Hi Marlins,
Thank you for signing up for a fun season of summer swim team. Jenn Sloan has organized a online store so you stock up on all your Marlin spirit gear- please check it out. It will be open until April 27th. We don't plan to buy extra so please purchase whatever items you want before that date. http://www.corporatesports.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1882 The full schedule is on the website. On May 20th is the meet and greet with coaches at 6pm followed by the family meeting at 6:30pm. It is a great chance to talk with coaches and get information about the season. Swimmers can attend. We are attaching the goal sheet that you can choose to fill out with your swimmer to give to the coaches. We are also attaching the coaches bios. The practice schedule will be finalized in the next few weeks. All updates will be posted on the website. www.berrywoodswimteam.weebly.com We are looking for a few brave volunteers for the following roles: Co-concession manager with Val Shinnamon Awards (for the end of season banquet) There is a few spots left on the team so if you know someone who hasn't signed please let them know. Hi Marlins-
Big Thanks to Jenn Sloan for setting up the Berrywood Marlin Spirit Wear Online Store. So check it out... http://www.corporatesports.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1882 Many nice options for swimmers and parents. My personal favorite is the super soft t-shirts. My kids love the visors. My husband loves his UA pullover. They are all great. Stay Calm and Swim On! Thanks, Annie Hi Marlin Families,
Hope your are well! I know summer seems far away but we have busy getting ready for the season. This email is going to cover information about coaches, registration, schedule, and volunteer positions. We listened to our survey responses from last season and have decided to make a some changes. One change is that we will not serve any food with peanuts at concessions. We are excited to welcome back Head Coach Cory Doubek. Cory has been coaching for Berrywood for the last six years and has so much expertise in stroke techniques that she loves to share with the swimmers. Our assistant coach will be Sarah (Merritt) Jaggars. Sarah is Spalding HS Head Swim Team Coach and has been coaching for summer and year round teams for many years. Coaches bios are available. We listened to the survey results decided to go with having two very strong coaches so that all swimmers can get helpful feedback. We will also have volunteer older teen assistant coaches on deck and junior coaches to help as well. Membership Day is March 15 from 9-11am and 7-9pm. Please bring registration forms and fee that day to join the team. Look forward to seeing you there. Last year the team did fill up so please plan to come on Membership Day if at all possible. Also, to be on the swim team you need to be able to swim a full length of freestyle by the end of the first week. The swimmers will be jumping into the deep end on the first day. We want all swimmers to have a safe and fun season. The schedule is similar to previous years. The meet dates are set but we won’t know the location of meets until late Feb./early March. Our family meeting is on May 20 th. The family meeting will begin with a coaches meet and greet at 6:30pm followed by parent meeting at 7pm. Please come and get all your questions answered. Practice will begin on May 29 th. We will kick off the season’s social events with the Time Trial (practice swim meet) and Sip n Dip/Bonfire on June 8 th. We have 6 dual meets and than the medal meets. The preliminary schedule is attached and will also be posted on the website. New this year we will have goal sheets available if you would like to have your swimmer fills those out and turn into the coaches. The Nemo program will be offered. Sarah will coaching Nemos. There is 12 spots open in Nemos. Nemos will be from 10:35-11am Mon-Thurs once school is out. More information is attached. To be in Nemos you must be able to swim the width of pool without stopping on the first day. I will post the registration forms to the website in this next month. I am sad to report that my family is moving to Virginia Beach around July 1. I will be co-managing with Ray Gretz until I leave. I have loved being the swim team manager and will really miss it. I know Ray will do a great job! The team needs two concession managers (organize concessions for the three home meets and medal meet), webmaster (maintain website for the team), social coordinator (works with volunteer coordinator to plan fun social events), and awards coordinator (work with Victory Awards and coaches to get the end of the season awards). Please consider taking on one of these roles. Every parent needs to commit to helping out in at least 4 volunteer slots during the season. If you can please go online to sign-up for those roles before March 15 th that would be great. The sign-up genius links will be on the website in the next few weeks. Social Coordinator: Volunteer needed Volunteer Coordinator: Megan Rausch Computer Ops: Michelle Wilson and Chad Baxter League Reps: Chris Darling and Marty Sullivan Announcer: Brian Whitley Concessions Manager: Two volunteers needed Ref: Kate Gillespie and Scott Sloan Starter: Jason Webber Spirit Wear: Jen Sloan Awards: Volunteer needed Team Managers: Ray Gretz and Annie Krause The website will be updated on a regular basis so please that as a resource. www.berrywoodswimteam.weebly.com.
